My laundry room is one of the messiest places in my home. Clothes get piled up on top of the dryer (usually mine), socks fall between the dryer and the wall and lint manages to find itself all over the top of my washer and dryer. I use to be grateful that we had doors on the laundry room so that the clutter could be out of sight, out of mind. I mean, who doesn’t try to ignore the mess, right?
Well, that led me to wonder how I could make my laundry room more functioning, easier to navigate, and cleaner so that I can enjoy being in it. Well, thanks to Google and Amazon, I found a few different options.
I have tried a few of these, but not all yet. The rest are on my extremely long wish list!

USE A BROOM HOLDER
Use this to hang up your broom, mop, garden gloves, sheers, and anything else that you have in your laundry room that isn’t laundry related. I have this screwed into the inside of the left laundry door and it works great! I have my broom, rake, mop, and garden sheers hanging on the Berry Ave Broom Holder
ROLLING LAUNDRY SORTER STORAGE CARTS
This bad boy comes in three colors: black, gray, and brown. Easy to put together and portable, this cart can be used by you or your kids. The laundry bags are removable so you can have your kids drop the clothes in the right bag, then lift and dump them into the washer! Add tags to the front of each bag to tell your kid what color/fabric goes in each one to ensure they are sorted properly. Get this laundry sorter storage cart for you and your kids!
USE A LAUNDRY DETERGENT DRIP CATCHER
Tired of those detergent puddles and streaks all over your washer? I know, me too. This easy to assemble and clean drip catcher is a fantastic way to keep the detergent drips and splashes in one spot. Pick up a few of these laundry detergent drip catchers and see how well they work in your laundry room.
STORE DETERGENT AND PODS IN JAR HOLDERS
Bring a bit of professionalism into your laundry room with these handy jar holders. You can store detergent soap, pods, clothespins, fabric softeners and more. Be sure to add a label to these laundry jar holders so everyone in the home knows what each jar is for. Isn’t that a wonderful idea?
ADD SHELVES WITH THESE EXPANDABLE LAUNDRY SHELVES
These sturdy laundry shelves are easy to install in your laundry room. One comes with a rod and one without. You can hang clothes that dry, add baskets, and add a nice indoor plant to brighten the laundry room. It’s a great multi-purpose item!
HANG OR AIR DRY YOUR LAUNDRY IN YOUR LAUNDRY ROOM
The easy to assemble InstaHanger closet organizer is a great tool to hang your shirts and shorts on. It’s an awesome way to air dry those shirts that can’t go in the dryer. I use this for my button-up shirts every Sunday. Check this bad boy out!
HANG YOUR IRONING BOARD AND IRON
An ironing board is a huge annoyance when stuffed on the side of a washer or dryer in the laundry room. mDesign found a way to get around this with their mDesign Metal Wall Mount Ironing Board Holder. The metal wall mount ironing board holder lets you hang your ironing board on the inside of your laundry room door. It also comes with a storage area on top for your iron, lint roller, and even your shout!
ORGANIZE WITH STERILITE LAUNDRY BASKETS
Laundry baskets are great once the laundry is done. Empty the dryer into a basket and tell your child or husband to come to get their basket so they can fold and put away their clothing. What could be easier? Bonus! You can add a tag to the front of each basket so that each one has a designated purpose.
USE STORAGE BASKETS TO KEEP ITEMS OUT OF SIGHT
They say out of sight, out of mind, right? Well, these baskets are a great way to keep the stuff you need in the laundry room, without them being an eyesore. These were the baskets I chose, but you can browse for another design or style if you prefer. Check out TheWarmHome Foldable Storage Baskets
PREPRINTED LABELS FOR YOUR LAUNDRY ROOM
